Let it snow!

18 Dec

Season’s Greetings!

It’s been snowing lots here so I present a suitably winter-themed challenge: Mount Everest! (plus a hiker – clearly man and mountain are not to scale!)

Everest

This was one of the suggestions from the Village Green event back in September, goes well with the snowy blog, eh?

‘Til the next time – Merry Christmas!!!

Handmade Fair, Leigh-on-sea

21 Nov

The Knit Anything suggestion box made another appearance at Saturday’s Handmade Fair at Leigh Community Centre and yielded an interesting – if puzzling – set of results:

  • Spaceship necklace and earrings
  • Pizza necklace
  • Cow Zing
  • Rabbit Zing

These were suggested by children and despite some intense googling/head scratching today I’m no nearer an explanation to exactly what a ‘zing’ is! Any thoughts welcome….

  • “That moment in Independence Day where the spaceship obliterates the White House.”

Looks like I’ll be renting Independence Day sometime soon, then!

Knit Anything at Village Green!

21 Sep

If you are in the Westcliff-on-sea area on Saturday, September 25th, stop by the Village Green event in Chalkwell Park. Music, art, crafts and much more will take place in the park and Southend Fringe Festival will have a stall in the marketplace area where we will be promoting the 2011 festival and selling various handicrafts including jewellery, knitted and crocheted accessories, cards and much more! There will also be a box for you to post your suggestions for things to knit  inside – results will appear on this blog!

Not sure his thumbs turned out too well though. (Thanks to Carol Meldrum’s Knitted Icons book for six pack embroidery inspiration!!)

Birth of Iggy!

11 Jul

Iggy's headIt’s been a while (largely due to the heatwave here) but at last work begins on the first suggestion! The alien-like blob to the right is actually the beginning of  Iggy Pop.

Who will probably end up looking a bit cuddlier than the current incarnations found on the telly.

More pictures to come once he’s all done and I’ve worked out the best way to embroider a six pack and knit up some silver trousers…

(and please keep those suggestions coming!)

A suitably punky suggestion from southendpunk: Iggy Pop!

The knit list begins…

The first suggestion for a knitted item comes from DJ Moonlight, who requests:

A knitted riot girl!

Followed shortly by this one from Richard: Shub Niggurath (yes, I had to look that up too!)
